DES MOINES, Wash. - Investigators says one of two people shot by a gunman early Saturday later died.

It happened shortly after 2:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Redondo Way South. According to witnesses, a verbal confrontation occurred between two separate groups before the shooting occurred.

Police say a 24-year old man and a 19-year old woman were hit.

Police say the woman, identified by family members as Jayme Thomas, later died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The man is expected to recover.

People in the area say while teens come down late at night and hang out, gunfire is not something they're used to hearing.

A woman who lives a block away says she heard multiple rounds.

“I thought I was dreaming, then when I came down to the gym this morning and saw the tape I realized it was real and remembered what I heard,” she said.

Police do not believe this shooting is gang related. And this incident is not connected to any of the businesses nearby.

Police are looking for two men. One is an Asian-American man in his 20s. The other is an African-American man in his early to late 20s.

Officers say the suspects sped off in two separate vehicles. Both vehicles are described as being early 90s Honda 2-door Civics with tinted windows. One is described as having a large chrome muffler, no license plate and just had some body work done near the rear driver's side.
